Father Richard Tolliver has been an ordained Episcopal priest for more than 45 years and serves as rector of St. Edmund’s Episcopal Church in Chicago. He is a former associate country director of the U.S. Peace Corps in Kenya, East Africa, and a former county director of the U.S. Peace Corps in Mauritania, West Africa. In 1990, he founded St. Edmund’s Redevelopment Corporation (SERC), a community development corporation dedicated to rehabilitating multifamily buildings and improving its surrounding area. He serves on many boards and commissions, and Mayor Rahm Emanuel has appointed him as a member of The Commission on Chicago Landmarks, the Board of Directors of the Chicago Low Income Housing Trust Fund, and the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Fr. Tolliver holds a bachelor’s degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio; three Master’s degrees from the Episcopal Divinity School and Boston University, and a Ph.D. from Howard University.
